Business-Focused Gmail Enhancements

Google announced new Gemini-powered capabilities for Gmail business customers that provide personalized and proactive assistance. The Workspace blog details how Gmail with Gemini can generate AI Overviews that answer natural language questions about email content by synthesizing information from across email threads. The system can also compose detailed email responses by pulling supporting details from relevant emails, chats, and Google Drive files.

The Gmail Q&A feature powered by Gemini is available now in the Gmail Android app and will be available later this month in the Gmail iOS app. Google's product blog explains that Gmail Q&A allows users to search their inbox for specific information by asking natural language questions, while Gemini in Gmail can summarize email threads.

Access to these AI-powered inbox query capabilities is restricted to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, according to Google's announcement. The existing Gmail AI features include Help Me Write, Suggested Replies, and Proofread capabilities.

Cross-Platform Document Creation

Google introduced a 'Help me create' experience in Google Docs that uses Gemini to synthesize information from Drive, Gmail, Chat, and the web to generate formatted first drafts. The Workspace announcement represents Google's attempt to position Gemini as a cross-application knowledge synthesizer rather than a standalone tool.
