NOAA Withdraws Support for Arctic Report Card, Putting 2026 Edition in Doubt

The Trump administration, acting through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has withdrawn its support for the annual Arctic Report Card. Kim Doster, NOAA's communications director, announced the agency's withdrawal on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The decision leaves the forthcoming 2026 edition of the peer-reviewed assessment in jeopardy and removes NOAA as the coordinating body for a report that has provided environmental updates on the Arctic region to scientists and the public since 2006.
