Microsoft Unveils Translucent Green Xbox 25th Anniversary Accessories Ecosystem

Microsoft has revealed a range of translucent green gaming accessories from multiple manufacturers to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox console, expanding the anniversary hardware lineup beyond the limited-edition console and controller announced earlier this summer. The accessories, detailed in a "Designed for Xbox" announcement published August 25, 2026, are available for preorder through the Xbox store and directly from the manufacturers Engadget.
Razer contributed translucent green reskins of its Basilisk V3 Pro 35K mouse and BlackWidow V4 75% keyboard, alongside a green version of its Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed gaming earbuds. 8BitDo released a green charging dock compatible with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One controllers. GameSir produced a translucent green redesign of its X5 Lite mobile controller for iOS and Android. Backbone offered a Pro Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition mobile game controller in three colorways, though buyers cannot choose which they receive in a mystery-box style offering Engadget.
PowerA took a slightly different approach with an Xbox Sling Bag designed for Xbox-branded ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X handheld devices. The bag is jet black with green accents rather than fully translucent, a design choice that accommodates the form factor of the PC gaming handhelds it is built to carry Engadget.
The accessory lineup builds on the centerpiece of the anniversary campaign: the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console and the XBOX Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. Microsoft announced both at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026. Each features a translucent OG Green design inspired by the original Xbox console. The limited-edition console and controller are scheduled to launch in November to coincide with the Xbox 25th anniversary on November 15 Xbox Wire.
The translucent green aesthetic taps into a hardware lineage that postdates the original Xbox launch. The original Xbox console launched in black with a green circle in the middle. Translucent-colored Xbox hardware came later, establishing a visual language that Microsoft revisited for its 20th anniversary. The Xbox 20th Anniversary Special Edition controller, announced in October 2021, used a translucent green design inspired by the original Xbox Debug kit. Five years on, the 25th anniversary accessories broaden that nostalgic design language across an entire peripheral ecosystem rather than a single first-party controller Xbox Wire.
Beyond the hardware itself, Microsoft is running a broader anniversary campaign that includes an Xbox 25th anniversary fan badge available through the end of 2026 Xbox Wire.
The accessory strategy here is worth noting. By licensing the translucent green design language to third-party manufacturers like Razer, 8BitDo, GameSir, Backbone, and PowerA, Microsoft is extending the anniversary brand across input devices, audio gear, mobile controllers, and carrying solutions for handheld PC gaming hardware. The inclusion of a sling bag for the ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X is particularly telling. Microsoft has been positioning Xbox less as a single console and more as a cross-platform gaming ecosystem, and branding accessories for third-party Windows handhelds reinforces that the Xbox identity travels with the player rather than remaining tethered to a dedicated console.
Backbone's mystery-box approach to its Pro Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition controller is a curious retail mechanic, effectively gamifying the purchase itself. Whether that appeals to collectors or frustrates buyers who want a specific translucent variant remains an open question, but it does differentiate the offering from the standard preorder model used by the other manufacturers in the lineup.
For hardware watchers, the translucent green design language serves as a connective thread across more than two decades of Xbox hardware, from the original Debug kit to a broad ecosystem of peripherals spanning mobile, desktop, and handheld gaming in 2026. The November 15 anniversary date gives Microsoft a focal point for the limited-edition console launch, while the broader accessory lineup is already in preorder, extending the celebration across multiple device categories well ahead of the date itself.
