For an expert audience, the technical architecture of Terafab, the target process nodes, and the specific compute workloads it will serve, whether inference accelerators for Tesla's autonomous driving stack or radiation-hardened silicon for SpaceX, remain the open questions that will determine the facility's strategic value.

What is confirmed is a vertically integrated ambition. SpaceX and Tesla are pooling capital, with state and local incentive support, to secure semiconductor supply for AI and compute workloads they view as critical to their respective roadmaps. The local community tension over tax incentives and transparency will likely persist alongside construction. The positive scenario is straightforward: thousands of construction and manufacturing jobs, a meaningful addition to domestic fab capacity, and a deeper talent corridor in the Texas semiconductor ecosystem. The risk is that the superlatives outpace the silicon.
