Xbox Turns 25: Here Are the Green Accessory Collectibles Coming for the Anniversary

Microsoft has announced a collection of see-through green gaming accessories from several companies to celebrate the 25th birthday of the original Xbox console. The accessories were detailed in a "Designed for Xbox" announcement published August 25, 2026, and are available for preorder through the Xbox store and directly from each manufacturer Engadget.
The lineup covers a wide range of gaming gear. Razer made green versions of its Basilisk V3 Pro 35K mouse and BlackWidow V4 75% keyboard, plus green gaming earbuds called the Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed. 8BitDo released a green charging dock that works with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One controllers. GameSir made a green redesign of its X5 Lite mobile controller for iOS and Android phones. Backbone offered a Pro Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition mobile game controller in three color variations, but buyers cannot choose which one they get — it ships as a surprise, like a mystery box Engadget.
PowerA took a different approach with an Xbox Sling Bag designed for Xbox-branded ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X handheld devices. These are small, portable gaming computers that run Windows. The bag is jet black with green accents rather than fully see-through, a design choice that fits the shape of the handhelds it carries Engadget.
The accessories build on the main attraction of the anniversary: the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console and the XBOX Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. Microsoft announced both at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026. Each features a translucent OG Green design inspired by the original Xbox console. The limited-edition console and controller are set to launch in November, timed to the Xbox 25th anniversary on November 15 Xbox Wire.
The translucent green look has a history with Xbox that actually came after the original console launch. The first Xbox launched in black with a green circle in the middle. See-through colored Xbox hardware came later and created a visual style that Microsoft brought back for its 20th anniversary. The Xbox 20th Anniversary Special Edition controller, announced in October 2021, used a translucent green design inspired by the original Xbox Debug kit, which was a special version of the console used by game developers to test their games. Now, five years later, the 25th anniversary accessories spread that same nostalgic look across many types of accessories rather than just one controller Xbox Wire.
Beyond the hardware, Microsoft is running a broader anniversary campaign that includes an Xbox 25th anniversary fan badge available through the end of 2026 Xbox Wire.
The broader context here is that by letting outside companies like Razer, 8BitDo, GameSir, Backbone, and PowerA use the translucent green look, Microsoft is spreading the Xbox anniversary brand across many kinds of gaming devices — mice, keyboards, earbuds, phone controllers, and carrying bags. The sling bag for the ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X is especially worth noting. Microsoft has been treating Xbox less as a single console and more as a gaming brand that follows you across whatever device you play on. Putting the Xbox name on accessories for other companies' handheld gaming devices reinforces that idea.
Backbone's mystery-box approach to its controller is an unusual way to sell a product, since it turns the purchase itself into a kind of game. Whether collectors will enjoy the surprise or feel frustrated that they cannot pick a specific color is an open question, but it does make Backbone's offering stand out from the standard preorder approach used by the other companies.
The translucent green design works as a thread running through more than two decades of Xbox hardware, from the original Debug kit to today's wide range of accessories for mobile, desktop, and handheld gaming. The November 15 anniversary gives Microsoft a focal point for the limited-edition console launch, while the broader accessory lineup is already available for preorder, extending the celebration across many device types well before the date itself.
