A company called GuliKit is selling a portable dock for Nintendo Switch consoles — including the new Switch 2 — for about $35 on Amazon. It plugs into a TV just like Nintendo's official dock, but costs much less.

Why does a cheaper dock matter? Nintendo's official dock costs more, and the new one is larger than the original. GuliKit's dock is small and lightweight, designed to fit in a bag so you can carry it between home and a hotel room, or between two places you regularly play. If you already own multiple Switch models, GuliKit's dock works with all of them — original Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch 2 — from one unit.

Over the years, some third-party Switch docks have caused serious problems. The worst incident happened in 2017, when certain unofficial docks sent the wrong electrical signal to some Switch consoles and permanently broke them. Other docks have had connection issues, failing to properly send video to the TV. Because of these incidents, buying a non-Nintendo dock is a risk many people want to avoid.

GuliKit claims its dock has one extra feature that other third-party docks don't have: it can "wake up" the Switch 2 from sleep mode, similar to how Nintendo's remote controls work. GuliKit announced this on social media on June 13, 2025. This kind of feature normally requires special permission from Nintendo, and it's not clear whether GuliKit has that permission or found another way to make it work.

GuliKit has made Switch accessories before and has a decent reputation. However, a dock is a new product for a console that has only been on the market for a few months. Before spending $35, you will probably want to wait and see what other users say about whether it actually works as promised. If you read reviews from people who have tested it, you'll get a better sense of whether it's reliable.
