Meta's New Monthly Plan for Facebook, Instagram and AI, Explained

Meta has launched Meta One, a monthly subscription that adds extra AI use and premium features across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. TechCrunch

There are two personal plans. Core costs $7.99 per month. Premium costs $19.99 per month for people who use AI a lot. Both include Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus. Premium gives a larger quota. Think of quota like monthly phone data, but for AI. Same bundle, more AI at the higher price.

Subscribers can use Muse Image and Muse Video to make pictures and videos. They also get wider tools for making and editing images and making videos. On Instagram, that includes the Restyle editing tool, which uses AI. The tools sit inside the social apps people already use. There is no separate AI app to open.

Meta also sells each Plus part on its own. Instagram Plus costs $3.99 per month, Facebook Plus costs $3.99 per month, and WhatsApp Plus costs $2.99 per month. The bundle is cheaper if you use two or more apps. Single-app plans are still available.

For businesses and creators, there are four stepped plans. Essential starts at $14.99 per month and up, Advanced starts at $49.99 per month, Expert starts at $149 per month, and Max starts at $499 per month. Meta said plan benefits, pricing and availability may vary by region, app and account.

Meta announced the service as "Introducing Meta One: A Subscription Service With More Features..." in its September 2026 news archive. Meta In that post, Meta says Meta One "helps creators spend more time creating and less time guessing."

Help pages describe Meta One as a paid subscription that adds extra features across Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and Meta AI. Meta Premium is described as giving wider access to advanced AI features across services such as Meta AI. Meta The service builds on Meta Verified. Subscribers get a blue checkmark next to the name on apps such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.

The AI involved is Muse. Meta introduced it on Sept. 8 as a secure, private personal AI agent that proactively helps with people's goals and suggests ideas. Meta Meta One is the paid layer for heavier use of that agent and its image and video models.

Third-party estimates show early traction. Appfigures data cited by TechCrunch puts Instagram at an average of $1.2 million in daily worldwide revenue as of the week of Sept. 9. Facebook was at $528,000 per day for the same period.

The broader context here is paying for AI use without changing the free feed. The free, ad-supported apps remain the base. Paid plans cover the extra computing cost of frequent image and video creation, and test what people will pay for convenience inside apps they already use. In my view, that is a practical setup. It leaves the social connections free and charges for the heavy AI work.

Looking at what this means for builders, quota design, cross-app access and regional differences are worth watching. If Core and Premium work cleanly across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Meta AI, multi-app users get a simple choice and Meta can add future models to the same plans. If quotas, features or pricing split by app or account, the bundle gets harder to explain. For now, the outline is simple. Pay per app, pay $7.99 for the bundle, or pay $19.99 for the bundle with more AI.
