Amazon's new voice assistant, Alexa+, is now available to everyone in India in Hindi and English under Early Access, according to the launch report. TechCrunch

Pricing is tied to Prime. After the early testing period, Alexa+ will be free for Prime customers. Customers without Prime will pay ₹2,000 per month ($20.85).

The biggest change is how it handles language. Alexa+ can keep a longer conversation going and remember what you just said. You can mix English and Hindi in the same sentence. Its voice also sounds more expressive.

That memory helps with jobs that take a few back-and-forth steps. Amazon's help pages describe Alexa+ as the newest version of Alexa, available only in English and Hindi right now. You can turn on Hindi and English mode together by voice command. The system was built with generative AI, technology that writes fresh answers instead of playing fixed replies, and can store your preferences, make reservations and work with Amazon products. In India, it connects straight to apps for shopping and daily tasks. Alexa+ can order groceries from Amazon's quick commerce service Amazon Now. It can turn smart home devices on and off. It also works with food delivery service Swiggy, Zomato's ticket booking platform District, travel sites TripAdvisor and MakeMyTrip, restaurant reservation app EazyDiner, and music streaming from Amazon Music and JioSaavn.

Three months ago, this was not yet available. As of June 22, 2026, Alexa+ was not available in India. Amazon was then testing it with Hindi support, with no launch date shared.

India follows the same pattern as other countries. In Australia, Alexa+ was free during Early Access, then free for Prime members and AU$29.99 per month for others. About Amazon Amazon's Devices news page also lists Alexa+ as available to everyone in the U.S. and fully available across Canada, free for Prime members in both cases.

The broader context here helps explain why this matters. In my view, mixing Hindi and English mid-sentence is the part to watch. Many older assistants were built for one language at a time, so everyday Hinglish can confuse them. Like a good shopkeeper who remembers your usual order even when you phrase it differently, Alexa+ has to remember preferences and deal with unclear requests across both languages. Prime bundling makes it cheap to try. If it keeps track reliably, it makes hands-free shopping and home control easier for families that naturally use two languages.
