Warzone Will Let You Hide Goofy Outfits

Warzone is adding an on-off switch that hides wild character outfits from other games and shows plain soldier outfits instead. It is planned for Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4. Engadget
The switch will be off at first. It does not change what other players see. Your own outfit still looks the same to you. It only changes how other characters look on your screen. Engadget
Hidden outfits are replaced with plain military outfits that fit Modern Warfare 4. Shacknews It works like a filter on your TV. Who owns what and how matches run stay the same. Only the picture on your screen changes.
The switch works in Warzone only. Call of Duty You still keep outfits you earned or bought through Carry Forward. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 comes out on October 23, 2026. Shacknews
These outfits include guest stars like Rambo and Beavis and Butt-Head. Engadget With the switch on, you would not see Beavis and Butt-Head in your matches.
The broader context here is a common tug-of-war in online shooting games. Fun guest outfits help the store reach more buyers and let players show what they like outside the game. They also make matches harder to read, when spotting enemies fast, telling friend from foe by shape, and judging distance matter. A switch for each player avoids forcing one rule on everyone.
In my view, leaving it off at first matters as much as the switch itself. Buyers still get seen. Other players simply get a choice they did not have before. Fights about what fits the game cool down when each player can set their own view.
Looking at what this enables over time, this kind of switch could become normal, like colorblind modes, sound controls and simpler on-screen displays. Serious players get a clearer view without changing casual games. Players who want to avoid certain guest stars get an easy fix. And more view options could follow, such as team-based looks or modes that make maps easier to read, without breaking matchmaking or taking away owned outfits.
