How Many Teslas Were Delivered? Why It Matters to Your Money

Tesla may have delivered between 421,758 and 482,000 cars in the third quarter of 2026, according to a Sept. 28 list of Wall Street forecasts. Electrek The average forecast tracked by Bloomberg is 463,000 cars. Yahoo Finance That is a gap of about 60,000 cars.
Tesla's investor page lists a "Q3 2026 Delivery Consensus" dated Sept. 29, 2026. Tesla IR That is one day after the Sept. 28 list and two days before today, Oct. 1, 2026.
The last firm results are for Q2 2026. Tesla said it made over 450,000 cars and delivered over 480,000 cars, plus 13.5 GWh of battery storage. Tesla GWh is simply a unit for stored energy. It delivered more cars than it made that quarter.
In Q4 2025, Tesla made over 434,000 cars and delivered over 418,000 cars. Tesla In Q3 2025, it made over 447,000 cars, delivered over 497,000 cars and shipped 12.5 GWh of storage. Tesla Q2 2026 deliveries were lower than Q3 2025 but higher than Q4 2025. Making cars stayed steadier than delivering them.
Forecasts for 2026 were cut early in the year. Expected delivery growth was cut to 3.8% from 8.2% in January, as reported in March. Reuters Tesla then had its weakest delivery quarter in a year at the start of 2026 and missed Wall Street expectations. Reuters
In November 2025, 2025 deliveries were expected to fall 7%, based on Visible Alpha data, after a 1% fall in 2024. Reuters
The broader context here is why that 60,000-car gap matters for your money. Think of Tesla like a shop with high rent. Whether it sells more or fewer cars changes how those fixed costs are shared. A low result of 421,758 would look much like Q4 2025. A high result of 482,000 would look much like Q2 2026. The middle guess of 463,000 would mean fewer than Q2 but more than Q4 2025.
Looking at what this means for the number, how making compares with delivering counts too. Lately Tesla has sometimes delivered more than it made and sometimes less. Storage grew from 12.5 GWh to 13.5 GWh, which also affects sales. A result near 463,000 keeps the yearly goal hard to reach after the slow start and the lower 3.8% forecast. A very low or very high number would quickly change views on the second half of the year.
