Best Buy is adding a free pair of Pixel Buds 2A in hazel to the cart when customers preorder a qualifying Googlebook. The gift-with-purchase runs through October 25, 2026, with some preorders scheduled to ship as early as October 5, according to The Verge.

Eligibility is broad. Qualifying Googlebooks come from Acer, Lenovo, Asus, HP and Dell. The entry reference point disclosed so far is the Acer Googlebook 14, which starts at $899.

That Acer configuration uses an Intel Core 5 Ultra processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and 512GB of storage. The mechanism is cart-based. Add an eligible Googlebook during the preorder window and the Pixel Buds 2A in hazel are added with it.

Fulfillment has two details. Best Buy states on its promotion page that the Googlebook and the Pixel Buds 2a may ship separately. Separately, Plus and Total members earn 5% back in rewards on Googlebook, according to Best Buy.

The broader context here is how preorder hardware is now sold. The bundle, the ship date and the cutoff date do three jobs at once. They set an order window, they set a delivery expectation, and they add a defined accessory without changing the base SKU. For teams that image, inventory and deploy laptops, keeping the base SKU stable while varying the incentive simplifies tracking.

Looking at what this means for buyers, the structure rewards early ordering without forcing a configuration compromise. The earbuds are fixed to one color. The laptop choice remains open across five OEMs. The separate-shipment note avoids a held order. If one component is ready before the other, each can move on its own timeline. That is practical for a launch where audio and compute come through different supply chains.

In my view, the more durable point is optionality. A starting price of $899 with 16GB of LPDDR5X and 512GB of storage establishes a usable baseline for professional work, and the 5% rewards credit gives members a reason to consolidate the purchase where they already hold membership. The free buds lower the cost of testing the full stack together, laptop plus audio for calls and media, from day one. Over the long arc, that kind of low-friction trial is how new platforms earn daily use. The technology improves when people actually live with it, and bundles that get accessories into hands early tend to accelerate that learning. For IT buyers, that early signal is useful. It informs accessory standards, support load and refresh planning without a separate pilot purchase.
