Eight Sleep Pod 6 Shrinks Footprint, Adds Solo Sizes

Eight Sleep introduced Pod 6 on September 23, 2026, an intelligent mattress cover that cools, heats, tracks and responds on both sides with built-in biometric sensors. The launch adds Solo sizes for one-person use alongside standard dual-sleeper sizes. Availability began the same day. Business Wire

The hardware is smaller and faster than the previous generation. The footprint is 50% smaller. Temperature adjustment on either side is 20% faster. The system operates with a single Hub that powers both sleepers, designed to fit under most bed frames. TechCrunch

Each side can be cooled or heated from 12°C to 43°C independently with zero impact on the other side, according to the company. The Pod 6 uses a redesigned thermal engine for relief from hot flashes, night sweats, or chills. It also offers custom elevation adjustment and snoring reduction. It works with any mattress. Tracking requires no wearable.

Sensor density increases substantially. Pod 6 has 9x more sensors than the previous generation. The added resolution supports wearable-free sleep and health tracking for two sleepers, with the ability to ignore data from a pet or kid sleeping on the bed with two users. That signal-separation problem is nontrivial in shared-bed sensing, where motion, heart rate and respiratory signatures overlap.

The Pod 6 Solo is the first Eight Sleep model with one temperature zone instead of two. Bloomberg It is offered in four sizes. The Solo Twin measures 38 x 75 inches and fits a Twin mattress. The Solo Queen measures 30 x 80 inches and fits one side of a Queen mattress. Solo configurations also cover Twin XL mattresses in the U.S. and, more broadly, fit a Twin bed and one side of Queen, King, and California King beds. In Europe, Solo sizes fit an EU Single bed or one side of an EU Super King bed.

Standard sizes are available in Queen, King, and California King. U.S. pricing starts at $1,999 for Solo sizes and $2,699 for standard sizes. Pricing in the EU starts at €2,199. The Pod 6 is available in over 37 countries. For reference, the company lists Pod AC at cooling to as low as 55°F and heating to as high as 110°F.

The company context is expanding beyond hardware iteration. Eight Sleep raised $50 million from Tether at a $1.5 billion valuation earlier in 2026. CEO Matteo Franceschetti said international markets contribute over 30% of revenue. Eight Sleep had neared $1 billion in Pod sales as of the Pod 6 debut. It is pursuing FDA approval to transition its Pod into a regulated medical device for sleep apnea in the U.S.

Looking at what this means for sleep technology, the interesting shift is architectural, not just dimensional. A smaller Hub, single-Hub operation for two zones, faster thermal response and higher sensor count point toward tighter closed-loop control between sensing and actuation. Solo single-zone SKUs lower the entry cost and address asymmetric households, where only one sleeper wants active thermal control.

In this author's view, the longer arc worth watching is medicalization. Consumer sleep systems have steadily added cardiorespiratory tracking and intervention features such as elevation and thermal manipulation. Pursuit of an FDA pathway for sleep apnea would test whether that sensor and actuator stack can meet clinical thresholds for sensitivity, specificity and longitudinal reliability. If it does, the bedroom becomes a more continuous site of care. That would be a quiet but consequential expansion of what a mattress cover is for.
