A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old who was fatally stabbed at Kingsway recreation ground in Luton, Bedfordshire Police confirmed on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Officers were called to the park shortly after 6:30pm on Friday, July 24, following reports of teenagers seen carrying large knives. The victim, a 17-year-old boy who has not been publicly identified, sustained multiple stab wounds. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

The 16-year-old now charged with murder was initially arrested on Saturday, July 25, on suspicion of violent disorder, alongside a 17-year-old. Both were subsequently re-arrested on suspicion of murder. The 16-year-old has been remanded in custody.

Three additional 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of murder, violent disorder, and carrying a weapon, bringing the total number of other teenagers arrested to four, besides the charged 16-year-old.
