SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro Brings Native Matter-over-Wi-Fi at $119.99

SwitchBot has launched the Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro in North America at $119.99, bringing native Matter-over-Wi-Fi connectivity to a cordless circulator fan for the first time in the company's lineup. The device connects directly to smart home platforms without requiring a separate SwitchBot Hub, a notable simplification for anyone who has dealt with vendor-specific bridge devices in a multi-ecosystem home. The fan is available through SwitchBot's website and Amazon stores, according to a July 29 press release from the company. Initial availability is limited to North America.
The headline specs improve on SwitchBot's previous fans across three metrics the company prioritizes: battery life, throw distance, and wind speed. The 2 Pro achieves a maximum wind velocity of 6.5 m/s (21.3 ft/s) and a throw distance of 33.5 m (110 ft), both the highest figures of any SwitchBot fan to date. It moves 477 CFM of air. That is slightly less than the original Battery Circulator Fan's 489 CFM, but substantially more than the Standing Circulator Fan's 323 CFM.
Battery capacity is 3,600 mAh. At low speed, the fan runs for up to 70 hours cordless at a noise level of 21 dB. On maximum speed, battery operation lasts about 4 hours. USB-C input from a power bank or power station can extend runtime indefinitely, which makes the fan viable for off-grid or power-outage scenarios without sacrificing smart features.
The device oscillates 90 degrees vertically and 90 degrees horizontally simultaneously. It is rated for indoor spaces up to roughly 50 m², and SwitchBot positions it as a companion to air conditioners and heaters, using air circulation to distribute conditioned air more evenly across a room.
Physical maintenance was clearly a design priority. Blades, filter, and both front and rear housings are fully detachable for cleaning. The fan also includes an integrated nightlight and an aroma box.
One notable omission: the 2 Pro does not include a height-adjustable stand, unlike its predecessor. Buyers who want elevated placement will need to improvise or use a separate surface. SwitchBot's official product page lists the UPC/EAN as 9356541001961, and the company's API documentation carries model numbers W9502500, W9502501, W9502502, and W9502503.
Matter pairing is initiated by pressing and holding the power button on the control panel for 15 seconds. The device resets and then enters pairing mode. This is a longer hold than most Matter devices require, and worth knowing before attempting commissioning into Apple Home, Google Home, or any other Matter controller.
A UK and European model will follow later with a built-in negative ion generator designed to reduce airborne dust and static electricity. SwitchBot has not announced pricing or a launch date for that variant.
The broader context here is the steady creep of Matter into categories beyond lighting and thermostats. A battery-powered fan that joins a Matter fabric natively, over Wi-Fi, without a hub, is the kind of device that would have required a proprietary bridge and a vendor-specific app workflow two years ago. The fact that SwitchBot, a company built around its own hub ecosystem, is shipping a device that bypasses that hub entirely tells you something about where Matter adoption is heading. Whether consumers will think to add a fan to their smart home routines is a separate question, and one the market will answer over the next several months.
In this author's view, the trade-offs in this generation are reasonable ones. Dropping the height-adjustable stand to hit a $119.99 price point while improving throw distance, wind speed, and battery life is a defensible engineering call. The slight CFM reduction relative to the original Battery Circulator Fan is unlikely to matter in practice; the difference between 477 and 489 CFM is within the margin of what room layout and placement will affect. What you gain in return is Matter-over-Wi-Fi, USB-C power flexibility, and a fully serviceable fan that does not require a proprietary hub to participate in automations. For a category that has been slow to adopt smart home standards at all, that is a credible step forward.
