Apple Warranty Upgrades Made Simple: Pay for One Device or Cover Three at Once

Apple sells two paid upgrades to its basic one-year warranty. AppleCare+ covers one device, and AppleCare One is a $20 per month plan that covers up to three devices with the same benefits. Engadget

Every iPhone, Mac and other Apple product comes with a one-year warranty. That is a basic promise to fix defects.

Both paid plans add unlimited repairs for accidents such as drops and spills, plus fast help at any time, day or night. You can get service at any Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider in the world. Batteries in iPhones, iPads and MacBooks are replaced for free once battery health falls to 80 percent. That means the battery can hold only 80 percent of its original charge. Engadget

Coverage for theft and loss is offered for iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches. It is limited to two claims in one year, and you still pay a fee each time. Fixing cracked screen or back glass on an iPhone costs $29. Replacing a lost or stolen device costs $149.

The price per device depends on the model. AppleCare+ for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is $14 per month or $140 per year. AppleCare+ for the iPhone 17e is $10 per month or $100 per year. These prices include a change from July 2026, when Apple raised monthly AppleCare+ prices for Macs and iPads by 50 cents and raised the yearly price by $5. Bloomberg

AppleCare One has the same repair terms. It only changes how you pay. Apple started the bundle in July 2025. It is sold only in the US, UK, France, Germany and Australia. Like a family phone plan, one bill covers three devices, and each extra device beyond three costs $5.99 per month. Apple

You have 60 days after buying a new device to add AppleCare One on your iPhone if you did not buy it at checkout. Apple Support A device that already has AppleCare+ or AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss can be moved to AppleCare One and will then be covered by AppleCare One. Apple Support

The broader context here is simple math for people with more than one device. Three separate AppleCare+ plans for current iPhones can cost more than $30 per month. One $20 plan for the same three phones cuts the cost by about a third, with the same fees and claim limits. The limits are fewer countries and one shared bill. If one device leaves the home, the bundle still works for the other two. If you own only one Apple device, single-device AppleCare+ is still cheaper.

For buyers who keep phones and laptops longer, the battery rule and unlimited accident repairs matter more than the monthly price. Free replacement at 80 percent lets iPhones, iPads and MacBooks stay useful longer with no extra talk about the battery. For families and small teams that all use Apple, one plan also means less paperwork. The devices do not change. What changes is how long you can keep using them.
