Meta will let an AI helper set up and run WhatsApp messaging for businesses.

The tool is called WhatsApp Business Tools MCP. It is a connector that lets AI helpers use WhatsApp Business tools directly. It works with Claude, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT. TechCrunch

Think of it like a checklist for setting up a shop phone. The helper can create the business account, add and check the phone number, connect it for message access through the Cloud API, and review the usage rules. Before, that took many steps on different web pages and sharing logins. Now the helper can do those steps in order.

After setup, the helper can write standard business messages, change them, send test messages, test automatic message alerts, and check usage rules, payment method and business approval. The standard messages are pre-approved forms. The automatic alerts, called webhooks, tell business software when something happens. Both often meant going back and forth between computer code, approval pages and delivery reports.

Meta's developer notes describe it as a way for AI helpers to set up and fix WhatsApp Business in one place. Meta Developers A helper tool, Meta Social Technologies MCP, can find message system addresses, search help pages and fix errors during setup.

Meta described the release in a blog post titled 'Announcing Meta Business Messaging MCP' about setting up and managing WhatsApp Business. It adds to Meta's official connectors that link Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta Ads to AI helpers. Meta Developers Meta already had connectors for handling ads and checking app settings before this WhatsApp version.

The broader context here is where builders spend time. Creating an account, checking a number, connecting message access, getting messages approved and testing alerts is needed. It rarely makes a business different.

In my view, this routine work suits AI helpers, if access limits and records stay strong. Setup, delivery checks and approval or payment status in one place means less switching. It also puts risk in one spot. A helper that can change messages and send tests needs limited access, clear records and a person to approve live messages.

Looking at what this means for small teams, the gain is a quicker path from first test to working business chat. Each computer shift has moved setup closer to where code is written. This does the same for business messaging.
