Boox has announced the Note Air 6C, a 10.3-inch tablet with a color screen that looks like paper and runs Android 16 with full access to the Google Play Store. It sells as a $580 bundle that includes a folio case and spare tips for the stylus. BOOX published its official introduction on September 15, 2026. Engadget

The main change is speed. The Note Air 6C has an eight-part processor, called octa-core, that runs up to 2.9GHz. Boox says that is 45 percent faster than the Note Air 5C. Boox also claims PDF pages turn 40 percent faster. The screen size is the same as before.

Boox has also updated how the screen refreshes. This controls how smooth it feels to scroll, browse the web, and use apps with moving images. On this kind of paper-like screen, that setting matters as much as processor speed.

Text in black and white is sharp at 300 PPI, a measure of sharpness. Color is less sharp at 150 PPI, which is normal for this type of color screen. The screen has a built-in light you can adjust for reading in low light. The tablet has two speakers and four microphones for voice recordings.

It comes with the Pen3 stylus, which needs no charging or pairing. You can unlock the tablet with your finger, using a sensor in the power button. It has 6GB of memory for running apps and 64GB of storage, plus a slot for a microSD memory card if you need more space. Storage is expandable.

The older Note Air 5C runs Android 15 and costs $530. The Note Air 6C moves to Android 16 and keeps Play Store access, so you can install reading, note-taking, cloud storage, and task apps directly with no extra steps. A bundle with a keyboard cover costs $690, on sale for $657 for the launch period. The Magnetic Keyboard Cover works with both the Note Air6 C and Note Air5 C, and it has a USB-C port for pass-through charging. BOOX Boox also sells a Magnetic Protective Case for the Note Air6 C for $50.99.

The broader context here is that color paper-like screens are slowly changing from simple readers into work notebooks. BOOX calls the Note Air6 C a refined 10.3-inch color ePaper notebook for knowledge workers. In my view, that description fits what was updated. Faster page turns, smoother scrolling, normal app installs, pen input, voice recording, and an optional keyboard point to a simple device for reading, review, and notes. It will not replace a normal tablet for video. What it enables is longer document work with less eye strain and less worry about charging, and the $50 extra over the last model pays for more speed and a newer Android version to keep it useful longer.
