Vivo's Folding Phone Is Coming to More Countries

Vivo is bringing the X Fold 6 outside China. The folding phone launched in China in June and is now headed for global release. The Verge
It opens like a book. The outer screen is 6.51 inches with a tall 20:9 shape. Opened, it shows an almost square 8.02-inch inner screen.
Both screens are AMOLED, a common phone screen type that looks bright and clear. The folding screen is listed at 2504x2312 resolution in a European retail listing. A 120Hz refresh rate is reported for the series, for smooth motion on screen. GSMArena GSMArena
It runs on a custom Super Edition of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, the main chip. It has eight cores with speeds up to 4.21GHz. It uses fast LPDDR5X Ultra memory with UFS 4.1 storage, carried over from the June China announcement.
Choices outside China are simpler. Listings point to 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB of storage. In China, options went up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Gadgets360 The global version has appeared in a Geekbench test running Android 17. Gizmochina
The main camera is 200 megapixels with a large 1/1.4-inch-type sensor. It is paired with a 50-megapixel zoom camera and a 50-megapixel wide-view camera.
Power comes from a 6,900mAh battery. The phone has an IP59 rating for protection against dust and water.
A 12GB and 512GB version is expected to cost €2,199 in Europe. AndroidHeadlines A separate retailer listing points to an India launch on October 6.
The broader context here is small improvements, not a new shape. Cover size, inner size, screen smoothness, chip class and battery size all stay inside the normal book-fold design. For phone and app makers, that steadiness helps because screen sizes and heat limits are already known.
In my view, two things are worth watching: photos and steady speed. The large 200-megapixel sensor creates a lot of data to read and store inside a body split in two. The custom chip suggests Vivo asked for a tuned-up version, likely to hold speed without getting too hot when folded. For app makers, wider availability of an Android 17 foldable with a normal outer screen and large inner screen gives one more common phone to design for, including two-window use, drag-and-drop, and different folded positions. Foldables do best as everyday phones, and familiar size, large battery, dust and water protection and strong cameras answer why many people have kept them as second phones. Wider sales give that mix a chance to prove itself in daily use.
