Two days before Samsung's July 22 event, well-known leaker Evan Blass published images and specifications of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 on his newsletter "Leakmail." The leak, first reported by Engadget, describes a premium smartwatch that is both thinner and substantially upgraded over the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The standout detail is the screen. Blass's leak claims the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 reaches 5,000 nits of peak brightness, up from 3,000 nits on the prior model. Nits are a measure of how bright a screen can get. A June report from Notebookcheck indicated the screen uses a newer type of display technology called OCF-OLED, which would be a change for Samsung's watch lineup. The brightness jump matters most for outdoor use in direct sunlight, where current flagship watches can still be hard to read.

The battery figure is the most aggressive upgrade in the leak. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is claimed to pack an 800 mAh cell, a 35% increase over the 2025 model's 590 mAh. mAh measures how much charge a battery can hold. Whether that translates to proportionally longer battery life depends on how much power the new screen and processor consume, but the raw capacity increase is significant for a device that the leaked images also show to be 12% thinner than its predecessor. Fitting a larger battery into a thinner body implies changes to the internal layout, the battery chemistry, or both.

The leak claims an IP69K dust- and water-resistance rating, upgrading from the IP68 rating on the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra. IP69K adds resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, a specification more commonly found on industrial equipment than consumer watches. For a fitness watch, the practical benefit is marginal for most users, though it does signal Samsung pushing the durability of the Ultra line further toward the rugged-sport territory occupied by devices like the Garmin Fenix series.

On the processor side, Blass's leak specifies the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, corroborating a separate earlier report from Android Authority. The Wear Elite is Qualcomm's newest wearable processor, and its inclusion would place the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at the high end of the Android watch market. Samsung has not officially confirmed the chip.

Leaked images depict a Titanium Silver color variant paired with a green band, according to SamMobile. The images show a design consistent with the first-generation Ultra's circular, industrial look, with refinements to the casing suggested by the reported thinning.

The broader context here is that Samsung's Brazilian newsroom published an article in December 2025 referencing the "Galaxy Watch Ultra2" in connection with a fitness challenge campaign, an early indication that the product name and marketing were already in motion well ahead of the event. That reference was, in effect, the first official acknowledgment of the device's existence, even if Samsung did not formally unveil it at that time.

Taken together, the leaked specifications sketch a device that addresses two of the most persistent complaints about premium smartwatches: screen visibility in daylight and battery life. The 800 mAh cell, if accurate, would be among the largest batteries in a mainstream smartwatch, and the 5,000-nit screen would be brighter than what any current competitor offers in the same size. The IP69K rating, while likely more than most users need, positions the Ultra 2 as a rugged-sport device.

All of these figures remain unconfirmed leaks until Samsung's July 22 event. Blass's track record on Samsung device leaks is strong, and the corroboration from Android Authority on the chip adds a second source.
