Sony India Unveils Massive Content Slate: Rohit Sharma, Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and A.R. Rahman Lead the Line-Up

Sony Pictures Networks India has pulled back the curtain on a sprawling content slate that spans Hindi-language fiction, reality television, regional programming, sports and film — all landing across its television channels and the SonyLIV streaming platform.
The announcement, reported by Variety, came from Gaurav Banerjee, managing director and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, who is the named first-party source for the entire slate.
Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma will front a new show launching in September on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV. A teaser campaign had been building anticipation since May, with Sony's social media promising Sharma's "biggest entertainment debut" and the cricketer himself posting "Stage ready. Cameras ready." It will be his first appearance on television outside cricket, as Indian Television reported in May.
The marquee title on the slate is Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 — the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? — which premiered on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV under the campaign line "Sochna Padega" ("Will have to think"). Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, this is the first season of the long-running franchise produced with artificial intelligence.
Bollywood star Ajay Devgn takes over as host of Crime Patrol 2026, a true-crime series. Comedy duo Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa will front Indian Game Show, a new comedy format.
The regional line-up is just as loaded. Madhuri Dixit Nene will host Kon Honar Crorepati, the Marathi-language edition of the Kaun Banega Crorepati format. A.R. Rahman leads Tamil Idol, the first Tamil-language iteration of the singing competition. SonyLIV will also stream MasterChef Tamil, featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
On the scripted side, Scam 2010 — a production from Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment and SonyLIV, directed by Hansal Mehta and starring Pratik Gandhi — joins the slate, extending the acclaimed Scam franchise. SonyLIV has also secured the digital and television premiere of Haiwaan, an upcoming film by director Priyadarshan starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, to stream after its theatrical release.
Sony Sports Network will run its Festival of Sports from 15 August through 1 December, covering India's cricket tour of Sri Lanka, the Women's T20 Asia Cup, the Asian Games and India's all-format cricket tour of New Zealand.
Sony Pictures Networks India — wholly owned by Sony Group Corporation — operates 29 premium channels alongside Sony Sports Network and SonyLIV, reaching more than 700 million viewers across India and distributing content in over 150 countries.
What makes this slate stand out is the sheer breadth of it. A single network is simultaneously commissioning a cricket captain's entertainment debut, an AI-assisted quiz show, a true-crime revival, regional-language format launches and a prestige drama — and scheduling all of it across linear television and streaming within the same window.
