Roc Nation Shuts Down Rumours of a Finished Jay-Z Album

Roc Nation has denied that a new Jay-Z album exists, posting "Album done … Fake news" to its Instagram Story on Monday, Aug. 10. The statement came hours after music executive Ray Daniels told his podcast audience that Jay-Z's first solo record since 2017's 4:44 was fully recorded and ready to go. Billboard

Daniels, speaking on an episode of his Ray Daniels Presents podcast, was emphatic. "His album is done. It's completely done," he said. "We might get it if somebody partners with him. If nobody partners with him, it's not coming. He is not playing about his brand. Somebody called and confirmed it for me." Daniels reiterated the claim on his own Instagram the same day, adding that the album could potentially arrive before the end of 2026. Billboard

Daniels has never worked at Roc-A-Fella, the label that launched Jay-Z's career, but he has held senior positions at Warner, Universal, Interscope and Epic Records across a long industry career. His podcast has become a regular stop for music-business talk, which is presumably why his claim travelled as fast as it did — though Roc Nation's response was faster.

Jay-Z's last solo album, 4:44, was released in June 2017 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — the chart that ranks the most consumed albums in the US each week — with 262,000 album-equivalent units, a figure that combines traditional album sales with streams converted into sale equivalents. No follow-up has been announced in the nine years since.

What has fuelled the speculation is a banner year for Jay-Z on stage, even without new music of his own. He returned to live performance in May 2026 at Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, then headlined three consecutive nights at Yankee Stadium in July. Those dates are part of a wider tour marking the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, his 1996 debut, with upcoming shows booked for London on Sept. 4–5, Paris on Sept. 10, and Los Angeles on Oct. 23–24. Roc Nation's online store is selling a limited-edition "JAŸ-Z: 30th Anniversary Collector's Crate" — a 30-LP box set gathering all 13 of his solo studio albums. Roc Nation Store

In an August 2026 interview with GQ, Jay-Z described 2026 as "all offence" and laid out what a potential album would need to look like for him to release it. Early that same month, he delivered his first new verse since 2022 on Beyoncé's "Morning Dew (Donk) Remix Pack."

For now, though, the label has spoken. No album, no timeline, no partner search — at least not one Roc Nation is willing to acknowledge. Fans can hold the anniversary tour dates and the collector's crate. A new record is not on the table.
