Kathleen Hanna, Ad-Rock, Tom Morello Join 47-Track Contra-ICE Benefit Compilation
Kathleen Hanna, Ad-Rock, Tom Morello and Fred Armisen are among more than 30 artists contributing to Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT, a benefit compilation organised by the non-profit Build Art Make Change (BAMC) and scheduled for release on 2 October via SoundsGood Records.
Rolling Stone, which reported the full lineup on 12 August, confirmed that the 47-track double LP pairs musicians, spoken-word artists and comedians in a project whose proceeds will go to the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) and Unión del Barrio — two organisations working with migrant communities in the United States. CONTRA-ICE describes itself as a collective of musicians and artists formed as a creative response to the treatment of communities and families affected by ICE — Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the agency responsible for immigration enforcement within US borders. The project was curated by BAMC founder Dali Colorado, with Lalo Alcaraz — the Mexican-American cartoonist and satirist — serving as artistic director.
The first single from the compilation is a cover of DJ Snake and Justin Bieber's 2016 hit "Let Me Love You." That track features Kathleen Hanna, Ad-Rock, Money Mark, Fred Ortiz and Frank Figueroa, and was produced by Mario Caldato Jr., the longtime Beastie Boys collaborator whose production credits stretch back to the group's early-1990s albums.
The lineup spans punk, Latin rock, hip-hop and comedy. Jello Biafra, Ozomatli, David J of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, and Fishbone — whose contribution is titled "Secret Police" — all appear on the tracklist. Fred Armisen rounds out the comedy contingent.
BAMC has also planned a day-long event on 3 October at La Cita, a bar and venue in Los Angeles, featuring performances from artists on the compilation. Tickets go on sale 14 August.
The compilation will be available across several formats: limited-edition vinyl, CD, digital, and a premium vinyl version signed by some of the participating artists. According to the SoundsGood Presents website, an exclusive digital release preceded the October physical launch. Alcaraz first announced the album's lineup on his Instagram account on 7 February 2026, and the project held an official launch event in April before entering full production.
What makes the compilation unusual is the sheer range of voices assembled under a single political banner. A Bikini Kill frontwoman, a Beastie Boy, a Rage Against the Machine guitarist and a Bauhaus bassist do not share a stage often, let alone a record. The choice of a Justin Bieber cover as the lead single, produced by a Beastie Boys collaborator, is its own signal that the project is not aiming for genre purity — it is aiming for reach.
