Crystal Palace have £35m+ bid for Lamine Camara rejected by Monaco
Crystal Palace have had a verbal bid worth more than £35m for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara rejected, according to BBC Sport. The offer would have made Camara one of the most expensive signings in Palace's history. Monaco, though, have no interest in selling at that price.
The French club are demanding at least €60m (around £51m) to part with the 22-year-old, per Goal. That is nearly double the reported £12.8m Monaco paid Metz for Camara in 2024 — and it gives a clear sense of how highly they rate a player whose value has soared since that move.
Camara is a Senegal international with 49 caps who featured at the 2026 summer World Cup. A central midfielder comfortable driving forward and pressing high, he has become one of the most watched young players in Ligue 1, France's top division. His performances on the biggest stage have not gone unnoticed elsewhere in the Premier League.
Liverpool and Manchester United have both shown strong interest in signing Camara following Monaco's rejection of Palace's approach, according to Liverpool FC's official website. The initial report that Palace had submitted an offer came from French outlet Foot Mercato, via Yahoo Sports, on 8 August.
For Palace, the bid fits a summer of ambition under new management. Pierre Sage replaced Oliver Glasner — who moved to Nottingham Forest — and has already welcomed four new signings to Selhurst Park. Evann Guessand arrived on loan from Aston Villa, Dwight McNeil came from Everton in a swap deal involving Brennan Johnson, Takehiro Tomiyasu joined on a free transfer, and Oscar Mingueza was signed from Celta Vigo.
A £35m-plus move for Camara would have sat comfortably alongside the biggest outlays Palace have ever made. It signals that the south London club are willing to shop at a level once reserved for Europe's established elite — even if Monaco are not ready to play along.
