Paramount Primal's 'Boys for Life' Sets Cast, Lands April 2027 Release
Paramount's genre label Primal has set the ensemble for Boys for Life, an R-rated comedy from Tyler Falbo, and planted a flag on April 9, 2027 for its theatrical release, according to Variety.
Alex Wolff leads the cast, joined by Will Angus, Billy Langdon, Liam Cullagh, Chester Collins and Eilise Patton. The film is a comedy about a group of friends with a dark twist, and it entered production earlier in summer 2026 (Variety).
Falbo directs and co-wrote the script with Max Barrett, co-founder of Almost Friday — a digital media company whose sketch arm, Almost Friday TV, supplies most of the cast. Langdon, Cullagh and Collins are founding members of that sketch crew, writing and acting in viral comedy videos for YouTube and performing live on tour. Falbo serves as Almost Friday's de facto showrunner, producing high-concept shorts for the platform. Collins is best known under the Almost Friday umbrella for his portrayal of Royce du Pont, a fictional alpha-male entrepreneur, and the company is developing a mockumentary series around that character.
Wolff brings the most feature-screen experience to the ensemble. His credits include Hereditary, Oppenheimer, Magic Farm and Outside of Cleveland, and he will reprise his role in the fifth Jumanji film, set for release on December 25 this year. He is also set to star in his sophomore directorial effort, If She Burns. Angus broke out in Mindy Kaling's comedy series Not Suitable for Work and will next appear in Luca Guadagnino's Sam Altman film Artificial, opposite Andrew Garfield. Patton is a member of the Groundlings Main Company in Los Angeles, with television credits on ABC's The Rookie and a voice role in the upcoming Netflix animated series Dang.
Beyond Boys for Life, several cast members have a shared project in the pipeline: Langdon, Cullagh, Collins, Patton, Angus and Falbo are developing a comedy series titled Last Night Was a Movie for FX.
Paramount Primal — headed by J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, whose Boulderlight Pictures produced Weapons, Friendship and Companion — is the studio's new genre label, positioned to work with both next-generation and established film-makers on "smartly budgeted" films across horror, comedy, action and grounded science fiction. The label recently acquired the U.S. rights to adapt the original screenplay for A Nightmare on Elm Street from the Wes Craven estate, signalling a taste for recognisable, mid-budget genre fare.
What makes Boys for Life stand out within that slate is the pipeline behind it: a YouTube-born sketch collective stepping up to a theatrical feature at a major studio, with a proven film actor in the lead. The R rating clears the way for the darker edge the premise promises, and an April 2027 corridor gives Primal a clear spring slot to sell into.
