HBO's Task Adds Four to Season 2 Cast as Mark Ruffalo's New Task Force Takes Shape
HBO's crime drama Task has added Stephanie Sigman, Alaíde, Rocío Guzmán and Regina Nava to its Season 2 cast in recurring roles, rounding out an ensemble that already includes Mark Ruffalo, Mahershala Ali and Julianne Nicholson (Deadline).
Created by Brad Ingelsby — the writer behind HBO's Mare of Easttown — Task is set in the working-class suburbs outside Philadelphia. The first season followed an FBI agent leading a task force to end a string of drug-house robberies orchestrated by an unsuspecting family man. In Season 2, the story pivots: Tom Brandis, played by Ruffalo, takes the helm of a new task force.
Sigman steps into the role of Carmen Belandria, described as a no-nonsense, fiercely loyal mother and wife of Miguel. Alaíde plays Maria Delgado, a sharp and resourceful cartel escapee fighting to reunite with her sister. Guzmán is Yvonne Delgado, an innocent yet fearless immigrant farm worker determined to protect her family. Nava takes on Fernanda, a resilient and stubborn immigrant mushroom farm worker.
The returning Season 2 cast reads like a prestige-TV roll call. Mahershala Ali plays Eddie Barnes. Julianne Nicholson is Lori Ross. Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, Aminah Nieves, Edgar Ramírez, Martha Plimpton and Silvia Dionicio round out the ensemble.
Ingelsby serves as creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer. His fellow executive producers include Paul Lee, Mark Roybal, Jeremiah Zagar, Ruffalo himself and Ron Schmidt, with Nicole Jordan-Webber and Karen Wacker co-executive producing. Casting is handled by Bialy Thomas & Associates.
Sigman brings a substantial screen résumé to the set. She is known for S.W.A.T., Narcos and The Bridge, and currently recurs in the Netflix series Nemesis from creator Courtney A. Kemp. She recently appeared in Apple's The Morning Show and will next be seen in Searchlight Pictures' Behemoth!, alongside Pedro Pascal, Olivia Wilde and Will Arnett. Her film credits also include the James Bond entry Spectre, where she appeared opposite Daniel Craig, and the original Miss Bala — the 2011 Mexican film later remade in 2018 with Gina Rodriguez in the lead role that Sigman originated.
Alaíde, Guzmán and Nava are all represented by Vision Entertainment. Sigman is repped by Paradigm Talent Agency, Alchemy Entertainment and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
For a series built on the tension between law enforcement and the communities it polices, the four new recurring roles pull the story deeper into the lives caught in between. Each character is tied to family, survival or escape — themes that sit at the centre of Ingelsby's writing. The expanded cast signals a wider lens for Season 2, even as Ruffalo's new task force keeps the enforcement side of the equation front and centre.
An air date for Season 2 has not been announced.
