Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls sold approximately 485,000 copies across PS5 and Steam in its first week, according to estimates by Alinea Analytics published on August 13, 2026. That figure translates to roughly US$33 million in revenue across the two platforms, as reported by GameSpot.

The game launched on August 6, 2026, developed by Arc System Works — the studio behind the anime-styled fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ — as a 4v4 tag-team fighting game featuring Marvel characters. Pre-orders had opened on February 19, 2026, following its announcement via a PlayStation Blog post on February 12.

The platform split leaned heavily toward PlayStation. The PS5 accounted for 74% of sales, with Steam — Valve's PC storefront — making up the remaining 26%. Of those PS5 copies, only 15.1% were physical discs, a figure noted by Rhys Elliott, Alinea Analytics' head of market analysis, who posted the estimates via his X account and a Substack article. The rest were digital downloads.

Alinea's analysis also tracked player overlap with other fighting games. Among Marvel Tokon players, 52% had previously played Dragon Ball FighterZ, 41% had played Mortal Kombat 1, and 39% had played Street Fighter 6 — the genre's current sales leader, which surpassed 7 million lifetime sales as of June 30, 2026, according to Capcom.

Fighting games have long been considered a niche genre within the broader games market, which makes the near-half-million first-week figure a notable result for a new IP — even one carrying the Marvel brand. The overlap data suggests Arc System Works' existing fanbase, built through Dragon Ball FighterZ and other anime-styled fighters, migrated to Marvel Tokon in significant numbers.

In the UK, Marvel Tokon debuted on the retail charts for the week ending August 8, 2026, according to GfK data reported by VGChartz. It entered the charts alongside Beat of Reincarnation, though both debuted below Resident Evil Requiem, which retook first place in its second week.

For context on the genre's scale, Street Fighter 6's 7 million lifetime figure — reached over roughly two years since its June 2023 launch — remains the benchmark. Marvel Tokon's first-week performance, tracked from August 6 through approximately August 12, puts it on a pace worth watching, though lifetime figures will depend on sustained interest and post-launch support.

Arc System Works had promoted Marvel Tokon at its own showcase on June 24, 2026, ahead of the August launch. The studio has already launched a major post-release update, according to IGN's Facebook page on August 11, signalling active development support in the game's early days.
