Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's 'Rein Me In' Hits 21 Weeks at UK No. 1, Extending All-Time Record
Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's duet 'Rein Me In' has secured its 21st week at No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart, extending a record-breaking streak that has now lasted longer than any other in the chart's history. Billboard confirmed the latest chart position on 14 August 2026.
The single overtook the previous all-time record of 18 weeks set by Frankie Laine's 'I Believe' in 1953. The milestones stacked up along the way: at 16 weeks, 'Rein Me In' became the longest-running No. 1 of the 21st century on the UK chart, surpassing Drake's 'One Dance' (2016), and the longest-running No. 1 ever by a British act, surpassing Wet Wet Wet's 'Love Is All Around' (1995). It also holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1 by a male-female duet on the Official Singles Chart, according to the Official Charts Company.
The Official Charts Company, which compiles the UK's weekly singles and albums rankings from sales and streaming data, crowned the track the longest-running Official Number 1 single in UK chart history in July 2026, following what it described as an intense chart battle.
Despite the historic run, the song has registered only modestly beyond Britain. It has peaked at No. 64 on the Billboard Hot 100, the US singles chart, and has not entered the upper reaches of that ranking. Fender and Dean performed the song together during Dean's headlining set at Lollapalooza on 1 August, bringing the duet to a festival crowd in Chicago.
The previous week's chart, dated 7 August, had already seen 'Rein Me In' reach its 20th week at the top, extending the record it continues to widen.
