HBO Max Renews 'Stuart Fails to Save the Universe' for Season Two Midway Through Season One

HBO Max has handed a second-season renewal to Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the Big Bang Theory spinoff that debuted in July 2026. The pickup came just four episodes into the first season's run, which is still airing new episodes weekly on Thursdays on HBO Max (Deadline).

The streamer's rationale is rooted in a strong launch. According to HBO Max, the first season is the platform's second-biggest comedy debut ever globally — a measurement the streamer has not broken down further into specific viewing hours or subscriber counts (Deadline).

The series picks up with comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman, who accidentally breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard and triggers a multiverse Armageddon. He has to set reality right. Lauren Lapkus returns as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke (Deadline).

Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady created the show, which is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Lorre and Prady were co-creators of the original Big Bang Theory, which ran for 12 seasons on CBS. Kyle Newacheck serves as executive producer and directs multiple episodes (Deadline).
