Ark: Survival Evolved Switch Online Servers Shutting Down August 31

Studio Wildcard will shut down the official online servers for both Nintendo Switch versions of Ark: Survival Evolved on 31 August 2026, the developer announced in a message on the official Ark blog. The shutdown covers the original 2018 Switch port and the 2022 rebuilt version, Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition (VideoGamesChronicle).
Ark: Survival Evolved is an open-world survival game where players tame dinosaurs, build bases, and cooperate or compete on shared servers. The Switch version launched in 2018 as a port of the main game, and was followed in 2022 by Ultimate Survivor Edition, a rebuilt version that addressed the original port's performance problems.
The server closure was first spotted by the website Delisted Games, which tracks game discontinuations. According to Studio Wildcard, over a million players have explored the official Switch servers since the original release.
After the shutdown, players who own the game will not lose access entirely. Single-player mode will remain available offline, and players will still be able to connect to unofficial private servers — community-run servers that operate independently of Studio Wildcard's infrastructure. What ends is the developer-hosted multiplayer service: the official servers that the game's publisher maintained directly.
For Switch players who have been active on official servers, the 31 August deadline is the point where online play moves to community-run alternatives or stops. The single-player experience — taming, crafting, and exploring the island on your own — stays intact.
The shutdown affects only the Nintendo Switch versions. Ark: Survival Evolved and its successor, Ark: Survival Ascended, remain available on other platforms, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with their own server infrastructure unaffected by this announcement.
