Sarah J. Maas Reveals Titles and Covers for ACOTAR Books 6 and 7
Sarah J. Maas has revealed the titles and cover art for the sixth and seventh books in her A Court of Thorns and Roses series, announcing both in back-to-back Instagram posts on 17 August 2026. The reveal was timed to a simultaneous billboard takeover across Los Angeles, Denver and New York City, with digital screens flashing the new covers to passersby.
Book six is titled A Court of Splintered Harmony and is set for release on 27 October 2026. Book seven, A Court of Forgotten Melody, follows on 12 January 2027. Both dates are confirmed by Variety and appear on Maas's official website.
The covers carry an additional label: book six is marked as The Valkyrie Cycle: Movement I, while book seven reads The Valkyrie Cycle: Movements II and III — framing the two new novels as parts of a larger musical structure within the ACOTAR universe.
Each book comes with a one-line synopsis. A Court of Splintered Harmony carries the line "What was broken will be remade." A Court of Forgotten Melody reads "What was lost will be reclaimed."
Bloomsbury, Maas's publisher for the series, lists book six as a 928-page hardback with a $32.00 list price. The product description promises a return to "the courts of Prythian with romance, danger, and intrigue." Book seven is listed as a hardback at $38.00, with pre-orders already open.
The A Court of Thorns and Roses series — often abbreviated as ACOTAR by its fanbase — currently spans five titles: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight and A Court of Silver Flames. Maas is also the best-selling author of the Throne of Glass and Crescent City series. Her books have sold more than 85 million copies in English and are published in 40 languages.
For fans who have been tracking a screen adaptation, the TV picture is quiet for now. An ACOTAR series previously in development at 20th Television and Hulu, with Ronald D. Moore attached as showrunner, was scrapped over creative differences. The rights have reverted to Maas, meaning no active television production is underway on the property.
What makes the dual reveal notable is the gap between releases — roughly eleven weeks. Readers will get book six in late October and book seven in mid-January 2027, a compressed window for two full-length hardcovers from a series that has kept fans waiting years between instalments. The "Valkyrie Cycle" subtitle suggests these two books form a connected arc rather than standalone entries, which may explain the back-to-back scheduling.
For a series that has moved 85 million copies, the stakes are commercial as well as creative. Two major releases in one quarter means Bloomsbury is betting that demand can sustain two hardback launches within a single holiday-to-winter retail season.
