FX's "Love Story" Celebrates Seven Emmy Nominations at Chateau Marmont Dinner

FX's "Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette" has earned seven Emmy nominations, and the network marked the moment with an intimate celebration at Chateau Marmont's Penthouse 64 in Los Angeles, co-hosted with Variety Variety.

The nine-episode limited series traces the relationship between JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette from the day they met. It premiered on February 12 with three episodes on FX, Hulu, and Hulu on Disney+, arriving with a 9 pm ET slot Deadline. Among its seven nominations is one for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, the Emmys' top category for self-contained stories Television Academy.

Variety's senior artisans editor Jazz Tangcay opened the Chateau Marmont dinner by introducing executive producer Nina Jacobson to the room Variety. Jacobson shares producing duties on the series with Ryan Murphy, the prolific creator behind dozens of FX titles FX Networks. Casting directors Courtney Bright and Nicole Daniels, responsible for assembling the ensemble, were also in attendance.

The cast reads like a who's-who of prestige television. Sarah Pidgeon plays Carolyn Bessette; Paul Anthony Kelly takes on John F. Kennedy Jr., a role he landed roughly three weeks before cameras rolled. Grace Gummer portrays Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts steps in as Jackie Onassis, Alessandro Nivola plays Calvin Klein, and Constance Zimmer appears as Ann Marie Messina, Carolyn Bessette's mother.

Zimmer's performance earned her second Emmy nomination for supporting actress in a limited series Variety. Kelly's casting, just weeks before production began, speaks to the pace of a Ryan Murphy set — where decisions get made fast and the machine starts moving.
