Masicka's 'Forever Reign' Arrives as 'Slip & Slide' Piles Up Millions of Streams
Masicka's third studio album, Forever Reign, dropped on 14 August 2026 via Def Jam, arriving on the back of a single that has already moved serious numbers. The Portmore, Jamaica-born dancehall artist earned over 57 million official on-demand U.S. streams in 2026 through 18 August, according to Luminate data cited by Billboard — a tally boosted heavily by the runaway reach of "Slip & Slide."
That track, Masicka's version of producer Di Genius' "Hill & Gully" riddim, collected more than 3.1 million official on-demand U.S. streams through 15 August 2026, per Luminate. Its official music video has surpassed 10.7 million views on YouTube. On the short-form side, the "Slip & Slide" sound was used in 360,000 TikTok posts and over 7,000 Instagram Reels.
"Slip & Slide" is not Masicka's only recent traction. His other recent hits include "Hit & Run" (a collaboration with Shenseea and Di Genius), "Whites" and "Mute." His 2021 debut album 438 won dancehall album of the year at the 2023 Caribbean Music Awards, and his follow-up Generation of Kings peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Reggae Albums chart, spawning tracks including "Tyrant" and "Limelight."
Forever Reign is a 17-track set recorded across sessions in Jamaica, Canada and Nigeria. It was primarily produced by Jamaican dancehall producer Dunw3ll and includes the track "Shakazulu" and the Afrobeats-leaning "G Wagon," which features Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez. The album debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums chart, per DancehallMag.
The album's release week coincided with a milestone on stage. Masicka made his arena-headlining debut at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, topping the bill for Reggae Fest Presents Masicka on Saturday, 15 August 2026, as confirmed by Billboard and the Barclays Center event listing. The show placed a dancehall headliner in a roughly 19,000-capacity arena in the heart of one of the largest Caribbean diaspora populations in North America.
For a genre that has often seen its biggest streaming numbers come from crossover pop collaborations rather than core dancehall releases, Masicka's 57 million U.S. streams this year — driven largely by solo dancehall material — give the moment some weight. The Nigeria sessions on Forever Reign also point to the growing creative traffic between Caribbean and West African scenes, a lane artists on both sides have been widening for several years.
What gives the Barclays Center booking its significance is simple arithmetic: arena headlining dates remain rare for dancehall artists performing without a co-headliner or a multi-act touring festival frame. The venue's own event page listed Masicka as the sole headliner.
