Cameron Winter announces first live album, recorded at Carnegie Hall

Cameron Winter will release his first live album, 'Live at Carnegie Hall', on October 9. The record captures a solo piano performance from last December at one of the most storied concert venues in the world, and it arrives via Partisan and PIAS, two independent labels that handle Winter's recordings (Pitchfork).

Winter is the frontman of Geese, a Brooklyn-based band, but the Carnegie Hall show was a solo affair. On the album he performs alone at the piano, reshaping songs from his 2024 album 'Heavy Metal' into stripped-back renditions and adding three previously unreleased tracks (Pitchfork; Partisan Records store).

The December performance was one stop on a short U.S. tour behind 'Heavy Metal'. It also placed Winter among the youngest solo musicians to headline and perform in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium, the venue's main 2,800-seat hall (Pitchfork).

The tracklist runs to eleven songs: It All Fell in the River, Try as I May, Emperor XIII in Shades, The Rolling Stones, Love Takes Miles, Cancer of the Skull, If You Turn Back Now, Nina + Field of Cops, $0, Take It With You, and Vines. Three of those are the unreleased cuts; the rest are 'Heavy Metal' material reworked for solo piano (Pitchfork).

For a singer usually heard fronting a full band, the appeal of the album is the contrast: songs designed for a group reduced to one person and one instrument. The Partisan Records online store is listing the LP for pre-order now (Partisan Records store).

October 9 is the release date.
