Netflix Unveils Full Trailer for 'Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story' Ahead of September Premiere
Netflix has released the full trailer for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, the fourth installment of the true-crime anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, launching with eight episodes on 17 September The Hollywood Reporter.
Ella Beatty plays Lizzie Borden, making her the first female lead of the Monster franchise. The series dramatises the events of Fall River, Massachusetts, where Borden was tried and acquitted in the 1892 hatchet murders of her father and stepmother The Hollywood Reporter.
The cast also features Sarah Paulson as serial killer Aileen Wuornos and Vicky Krieps as Elizabeth Báthory, the Hungarian noblewoman linked to legend and multiple murder accusations. Rebecca Hall rounds out the principal cast alongside Beatty and Krieps The Hollywood Reporter; Netflix.
The executive producer roster is long: Murphy and Brennan are joined by Max Winkler, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Louise Shore, Nissa Diederich, Todd Kubrak, Carl Franklin and Tanase Popa The Hollywood Reporter.
Netflix's own Tudum newsroom first flagged the season on 11 August with a teaser showing Borden wielding an axe, bloodied face and all, alongside the September release date Netflix Tudum; The Hollywood Reporter. Netflix's title page classifies the season as a TV-MA drama spanning the genres of TV Dramas, Period Pieces and Crime Netflix.
A separate Monster installment is also in the works: Charlie Hunnam, who also appears in the Borden season, leads Monster: The Ed Gein Story as the Wisconsin killer and grave robber, per Netflix's Tudum Netflix Tudum.
For viewers new to the franchise, each Monster season tells a self-contained story about a different historical figure, so no prior viewing is needed to jump in on 17 September.
