Rosie O'Donnell took the Jimmy Kimmel Live! desk for a week of guest-hosting in August 2026, and by her third night she had the studio crowd roaring with a monologue aimed squarely at President Donald Trump and White House aide Natalie Harp.
"You got to realize it's time to hang up your wig and let Natalie tuck you in," O'Donnell said during the monologue, drawing gasps and applause from the audience (The Hollywood Reporter; Yahoo News NZ). She also branded Trump "President Petty Roosevelt" and told him: "Time to go nighty night."
The bit leaned into weeks of intensifying media scrutiny around Harp, a 35-year-old White House executive assistant who joined Trump's team in 2022. A CNN report published August 18, 2026 described Harp as "omnipresent," trailing the president to feed him printed-out positive news stories and social media posts about himself — a habit that earned her the nickname "the human printer" (The Hollywood Reporter). The same report revealed that in 2023 Harp got into a screaming match when denied a seat in Trump's motorcade and jumped into the trunk of an SUV to avoid being left behind.
Harp's estranged brother appeared on CNN claiming his sister had an "unhealthy obsession" with the president. Eric Trump fired back, calling the interview "absolute trash" and defending Harp as a cancer survivor and one of the hardest-working people in the White House (The Hollywood Reporter).
The Harp speculation has even reached Congress. Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia said Trump "wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar." O'Donnell and Trump have a public feud stretching back nearly two decades, which gives the Kimmel material a personal edge the crowd clearly felt. She has been a consistent and vocal critic, and Trump has returned fire just as consistently over the years.
For a week, at least, O'Donnell turned the late-night desk into a staging ground for the running drama between the president, his most scrutinised aide, and a comedian who refuses to let the story drop.
