Steven Yeun Returns to TV With Netflix Supernatural Drama 'Pagans'
Steven Yeun is heading back to television. The Emmy-winning actor will star in and executive produce Pagans, a supernatural drama series at Netflix created by Joshua Zetumer, according to Deadline.
Yeun plays Gus, a father who becomes the sole caretaker of his two children after the tragic loss of his wife. His daughter Alice is described as atypical, and the strained father-daughter relationship between Gus and Alice evolves into something sinister. The show's full premise beyond that remains under wraps.
The road to Pagans began in September 2025, when Zetumer's spec script — a script written on speculation, without a commission — triggered a bidding war involving some 15 to 18 studios, platforms and producers. Netflix won with a straight-to-series order, meaning no pilot is shot first and the show goes directly into full production.
Zetumer serves as showrunner, the top creative authority on a series. He created the Netflix limited series Say Nothing and writes Pagans as well. In December 2025, Drew Goddard and his producing partner Sarah Esberg joined as executive producers through their company Goddard Textiles. The full executive producing team alongside Zetumer includes Goddard and Esberg, Jonathan van Tulleken, Erica Kay, Steven Yeun and Christina Oh for Celadon Pictures.
For Yeun, this is his first television role since Beef, the Netflix limited series that earned him an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a SAG Award. He shared top billing on Beef with Ali Wong. Yeun also received an Oscar nomination for the film Minari, and his recent film credits span a wide range: Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17, Jordan Peele's Nope, Chang-dong Lee's Burning and Boots Riley's Sorry to Bother You.
The Netflix relationship keeps deepening. Yeun is set to co-star opposite Ben Affleck in Affleck's film Animals for the streaming service, after already starring in Affleck's previous Netflix movie The Rip. He is repped by CAA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
No production timeline or release window for Pagans has been announced.
