Bonnaroo Cancels 2027 Festival So 'The Farm' Can Recover From Back-to-Back Storm Years
Bonnoo Music & Arts Festival will not return in 2027, organizers announced on Friday morning, August 21. The festival's grounds in Manchester, Tennessee — a 700-acre site known as "The Farm" — need a year to "rest and recover" after back-to-back years of severe-weather disruptions.
In an official message, organizers said the decision was not an easy one but that the break would make Bonnaroo better. The statement pointed specifically to The Farm's main venue area, which has had limited time to recuperate from consecutive years of storms, including a heavy rainstorm that struck the final day of the 2026 festival in June. The 2026 event had already tested the site's limits. On June 14, in the early afternoon, Bonnaroo told attendees that performances were temporarily paused due to storms in the area and instructed fans to shelter in place away from stages and large structures. The Centeroo area — the festival's main concert zone — was then evacuated because of heavy rain and lightning. Nearly a dozen sets were canceled, including one by Aly & AJ. Organizers had announced the previous day, June 13, that the rest of the 2026 event would be called off due to incoming severe weather, according to Bonnaroo's official Facebook account.
That followed an even worse outcome in 2025, when the festival was canceled after just one full day of music, following an evacuation notice issued on Friday night. Bonnaroo was also canceled entirely in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was briefly paused in 2023 due to torrential rainfall from Hurricane Ida.
Organizers said they had invested effort and money improving the campgrounds and Centeroo for the 2026 festival. The upgrades included improved drainage, 4.5 miles of new roadways, and 135 acres of new grass. Despite those investments, the statement said The Farm — particularly the main venue — still needs a break to recover from the compounding impact of repeated storms across consecutive years.
The cancellation announcement resolves weeks of uncertainty. As of August 20, 2026, Bonnaroo had not yet announced dates for a 2027 festival, and rumours had been swirling among fans and local media about whether the event would go ahead at all. Knox News
