John Leguizamo, Judy Reyes and Oscar Nuñez Among Honorees at 2026 Celebración of Cinema & Television

John Leguizamo will receive the Career Achievement Award at the 6th annual Celebración of Cinema & Television, the Critics Choice Association announced on 24 August 2026, unveiling a full slate of honourees that spans film, television and streaming.

The ceremony takes place on 2 October 2026 at the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. The event, now in its sixth year, honours standout performances and work from the Latino and Hispanic entertainment community — a broad brief that this year reaches across studio films, platform dramas and festival breakouts (Deadline).

Leguizamo's honour is tied to his performance in Universal Pictures' The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan. The film also appears on the Critics Choice Association's Seal of Distinction list, which recognises new releases earning top ratings in the association's weekly voting.

Judy Reyes will accept the Trailblazer Award. Oscar Nuñez, best known to television audiences from The Office, will be recognised with the Vanguard Award. Both are named in the same Deadline report detailing the full slate.

Behind the camera, the honourees are equally spread across studios and platforms. Rodrigo Teixeira receives the Producer Award for Neon's Paper Tiger. James Ortiz accepts the Innovator Award for Amazon MGM Studios' Project Hail Mary, a title that also carries a Critics Choice Seal of Distinction.

The Director Award goes to Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi — the Spanish duo known as Los Javis — for Netflix's La Bola Negra. The pair won the best director prize at the Cannes Film Festival for the same film (Yahoo Entertainment). La Bola Negra reaches theatres on 6 November 2026 before streaming on Netflix from December, following a competitive bidding war at Cannes (Critics Choice Association, Facebook).

The Celebración has previously honoured figures including labour leader Dolores Huerta, who received the Icon Award at the 2025 edition. The Critics Choice Association runs several parallel programmes beyond the Celebración, including the main Critics Choice Awards — where One Battle After Another won Best Picture and Timothée Chalamet took Best Actor for Marty Superior at the 2026 ceremony — as well as the AAPI Celebration of Cinema & Television and the newly introduced Critics Choice Creator Awards.

For audiences, the 2026 Celebración offers a snapshot of where Latino and Hispanic talent is working right now: across a Nolan blockbuster, a Cannes-winning Spanish-language drama, an Amazon sci-fi production and a Neon indie. The unifying thread is that each project has a confirmed release path or festival pedigree behind it — these are not speculative honours, but recognitions of work that has already reached or is about to reach viewers.
