Former Child Star Raquel Lee Sues Disney Over Alleged On-Set Sexual Assault During 2001 Film

Raquel Lee, a child actor on Disney Channel's "The Amanda Show" and "The Proud Family," has sued Disney alleging that a male employee raped and sexually assaulted her when she was 14 years old during the 2001 production of the Disney Channel movie "The Poof Point."

Lee's civil lawsuit, filed on a Friday and first reported by The Hollywood Reporter on 22 August 2026, accuses Disney of negligence over the alleged abuse. According to Deadline's 24 August report — which carries the headline "Disney Knew About Rapes On 2001's 'Poof Point' Film" — Lee (whose full name is Raquel Lee Boileau) alleges she was raped repeatedly while making the film as a 14-year-old.

The lawsuit alleges that a middle-aged male employee involved in the production groomed, sexually harassed, and assaulted Lee. The cast and crew were filming in Utah, where Lee says they were provided with hotel rooms in Salt Lake City. The alleged employee reportedly gave Lee alcohol and assaulted her while the cast was staying in Salt Lake City and on a flight back to California.

Lee's lawsuit claims that Disney and the film's director, Neal Israel, told her to "bond with, get close to, and trust" the alleged employee, according to Variety's 24 August report. The complaint further alleges that Disney did not provide Lee with medical care and that multiple Disney executives accused the teenager of being "out of control" and having "a demon inside her." Disney, Lee alleges, also cancelled her role in a subsequent production after "The Poof Point."

Disney declined to comment on the lawsuit, per Variety.

Lee publicly came forward about the case in a post on her Instagram account on 23 August, describing the allegations in her own words. She wrote that the production provided cast and crew with hotel rooms in Utah and detailed the alleged assaults.

People magazine, reporting on 23 August under Lee's full name Raquel Lee Bolleau, said the actor alleges an adult male Disney employee repeatedly sexually assaulted her on set. USA Today, in an article dated 22 August, confirmed that the former child actor had come forward with allegations of sexual assault against a former Disney employee in a new lawsuit.

Lee's career extended well beyond "The Poof Point." She appeared on Nickelodeon's sketch series "The Amanda Show" and voiced a character on the Disney Channel animated series "The Proud Family." She reprised that role in the Disney+ revival "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder," which ran from 2022 to 2026. Lee also participated in the documentary "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV," where she discussed her experience as a Black actor on "The Amanda Show."

The lawsuit joins a growing body of legal action and public scrutiny aimed at major studios over the treatment of child performers on their sets. Lee's allegations reach back 25 years to a Disney Channel production, placing the studio's duty-of-care obligations toward its youngest performers squarely at the centre of the complaint.
