Capitol Christian Music Group Marks 50 Years at Nashville Partner Summit

Capitol Christian Music Group celebrated its 50-year anniversary at its annual partner summit in Nashville on Aug. 20, according to Billboard.
The event, held at CCMG's Nashville headquarters, brought together label staff and partners to mark five decades of operation. Billboard described the gathering as the label's recurring annual summit, not a first-ever event. Brad O'Donnell, who serves as president of Capitol Christian Music Group, led the proceedings.
Two of the label's current roster names featured prominently in Billboard's reporting of the summit. Josiah Queen, whose sophomore album Mt. Zion debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart in 2025, also made his first appearance on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 — the flagship US singles chart that tracks songs across every style of music — with the track "Dusty Bibles." Queen additionally scored a three-week run at No. 1 on the Christian Airplay chart with "Can't Steal My Joy," a collaboration with Brandon Lake.
Jamie MacDonald, another CCMG artist highlighted at the summit, had two songs — "Left It in the River" and "Desperate" — lead the Christian AC Airplay chart in 2025 and reach the top 10 on the Hot Christian Songs chart, which ranks the most-consumed Christian tracks across sales, streaming and radio. MacDonald's self-titled album climbed to No. 3 on the Top Christian Albums chart.
For a label turning 50, the chart positions are a snapshot of where the roster sits right now. CCMG operates under the Capitol Music Group umbrella, itself part of Universal Music Group, the largest of the three major record companies. Christian music has spent decades occupying a distinct commercial lane — strong on physical sales, radio formats and touring circuits that run parallel to the mainstream industry — and a half-century of operation puts CCMG's founding in the mid-1970s, when the contemporary Christian music market was still taking shape as a recorded-music category.
The summit itself is a working event: partners and staff convene annually to review the past year and plan the next. No new signings, release dates or deal announcements were reported from the 2026 edition. What Billboard's coverage confirmed is the anniversary milestone and the current chart standing of two artists on the roster.
