Zee Studios Unveils a Sprawling Eight-Language Film Slate for 2026-27
Zee Studios has pulled back the curtain on a multilingual, multi-genre film slate for 2026-27, spanning Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati and Kannada cinema — seven Indian film industries under one production banner, plus Malayalam titles yet to be individually named Variety.
The Hindi lineup leads with star power. Baap brings together Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Mithun Chakraborty under director Vivek Singh Chauhan. Nawazuddin Siddiqui headlines Blind Babu, directed by Ravi Varma, while Arjun Rampal and Priyamani pair up for Blind Game, directed by Sangeeth Sivan. Anupam Kher, Ritwik Bhowmik and Amruta Khanvilkar feature in Shri Ram Bhoomi, directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh. Richa Chadha stars in Delhi 2021, directed by Abhishek Acharya.
The Telugu slate is anchored by NBK111, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Gopichand Malineni. Venkatesh Daggubati, Keerthy Suresh and Kalyan Ram team up for January 12 Vidudala, directed by Anil Ravipudi. The slate also includes Indraputra with Kiran Abbavaram, plus Kanaka Durga, Anasuya General Stores and Shrimathi Variety; BestMediaInfo.
Tamil cinema gets two entries: Hi, starring Nayanthara and Kavin and directed by Vishnu Edavan, and Sathyavan Savithri, starring Keerthy Suresh alongside the filmmaker-actor Mysskin, directed by Praveen S. Vijaay.
For Kannada audiences, Zee Studios has Anna From Mexico, a Dhananjaya-led ensemble that also features Reeshma Nanaiah, Umashree, Rangayana Raghu and Sadhu Kokila, directed by Shankar Guru. The studio is also entering the Gujarati market for the first time with Tom and Cherry, a comedy starring Siddharth Randeria and Dhanya Doshi, directed by Dharmessh Mehta.
The Marathi slate builds on Aatmapamphlet, which won a National Film Award — India's highest government film honour. New Marathi titles include Jhep (directed by Priyadarshan Jadhav), Phulwara (starring Priyadarshini Indalkar, directed by Ravi Jadhav), Jogai (starring Jitendra Joshi and Sajiri Joshi, directed by Vishal Modhave) and Maan.
Beyond the language-specific slates, Zee Studios announced Silaa, starring Harshvardhan Rane, Sadia Khateeb and Karanveer Mehra and directed by Omung Kumar. Two further projects carry the placeholder titles Venkyanil5 and NKRAR2. The studio will also partner for the first time with Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network on a film titled Paaltu. Meanwhile, Zee Studios' streaming sibling ZEE5 has its own pipeline, including the Tamil horror franchise continuation Demonte Colony 3 and the film Raawadi BestMediaInfo.
What stands out is the sheer spread. A single Indian studio committing to theatrical projects across eight languages — from a 500-crore-grossing Hindi action star to a first-time Gujarati comedy — is a bet that audiences across India's regional cinemas will return to theatres in numbers that justify the spend. Whether that bet pays off will show up, one weekend at a time, in the grosses.
