Hilary Strong Exits John Gore Studios as Founder Consolidates UK and US Operations
Hilary Strong is stepping down as CEO of John Gore Studios, the London-based film and television company launched in January 2025, as founder John Gore merges the UK studio with its American sister organisation under a single holding company.
Gore himself will lead both John Gore Studios and The John Gore Organization following the restructure, framing the consolidation as a way to coordinate film, TV and theatrical businesses under one strategic vision. According to Gore, Strong and her team took the business from zero to seven feature films in 18 months — a build-out that included acquiring AI production specialist Deep Fusion, Hilary Bevan Jones' Hilltop Screen, and Angel Costumes (Deadline).
Strong was executive producer on each of the studio's first six pictures. Her slate included a Wallis Simpson biopic starring Joan Collins. The studio is headquartered in London with offices in New York (Deadline).
Strong said she and Gore agreed that with the reshaping of the global business, her work at the studio is done. The company described her as leaving "a friend and supporter of John Gore Studios" while she explores new opportunities (Deadline).
Her departure comes just over a year into the studio's life. Strong had been listed as a speaker at SXSW London 2026 in June, still identified as CEO (SXSW London). Her career spans 35 years across TV, film and related fields. Before John Gore Studios, she served as chief executive of Agatha Christie Limited and The Anthology Group, managing director of Acorn Productions, and held roles at Chorion and Hat Trick Productions. She is also the founder and CEO of International Literary Properties, where she managed the estates of several authors (Deadline).
Gore's own background is steeped in theatre. He has won more than 25 Tony Awards, with producing credits including Oklahoma!, Dear Evan Hansen and Hello, Dolly! Through The John Gore Organization, he owns Broadway Across America, Broadway.com and The Broadway Channel (Deadline).
When the studio launched, Gore described it as fulfilling a long-held desire to move into film and television (John Gore Studios). Eighteen months and seven films later, that ambition has been handed back to him directly — with the UK and US sides of the business now under one roof and one boss.
