Nvidia's Gamescom 2026 Updates: Cloud Gaming, DLSS 4.5, RTX Spark Chips, and More

Nvidia used its Gamescom 2026 announcements to widen GeForce Now's hardware compatibility, ship new DLSS 4.5 controls, detail its upcoming RTX Spark chip family, and expand G-SYNC display partnerships. The updates span cloud gaming, image-upscaling technology, new silicon, and the modding ecosystem all at once.
GeForce Now: Controllers, Browsers, and TV Sticks
GeForce Now will officially support Valve's Steam Controller and Steam Machine starting later this year. Controller support will be available when using the GeForce Now app on a Steam Deck or Steam Machine. For GeForce Now on Windows or macOS, Steam Controller support is coming "later," according to Nvidia (The Verge). The phrasing leaves the desktop timeline deliberately open.
GOG single sign-on is now live on GeForce Now, and the service became officially usable on Firefox as of last week. Nvidia will also bring GeForce Now to more Amazon Fire TV Sticks later this year, with subscriptions purchasable directly through Amazon. Firefox support and the Fire TV expansion push GeForce Now further into a model where a browser or a TV stick is all you need — dedicated gaming hardware becomes optional.
DLSS 4.5: Finer Control Over Image Quality
On the rendering side, Nvidia will add new DLSS 4.5 controls for DLSS Super Resolution, Dynamic Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction. DLSS is Nvidia's suite of AI-driven technologies that improve image quality and frame rates; Super Resolution upscales lower-resolution images to higher resolution, Dynamic Frame Generation creates entirely new frames in between existing ones to smooth motion, and Ray Reconstruction uses AI to clean up the noise that ray tracing (simulating how light bounces through a scene) introduces. Ray Reconstruction is officially launching for RTX GPUs in early access.
DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution was first introduced at CES 2026 (Nvidia), and the Gamescom update adds finer-grained user control over the individual DLSS subsystems rather than treating them as a single on-or-off toggle. For anyone who has watched DLSS evolve from a single upscaling mode in 2018 to a multi-stage reconstruction pipeline, the trajectory toward per-component tunability is a natural progression. Giving enthusiasts direct control over Ray Reconstruction parameters alongside Super Resolution and frame generation settings mirrors the maturity curve of every rendering technology that eventually exposes its internal settings to power users.
RTX Spark: New Chips With Game Support Already Lined Up
Nvidia announced its upcoming RTX Spark chip family, set to launch this fall. EA, Embark, and Ubisoft are planning support for RTX Spark in games including EA Sports F1 25, Apex Legends, Arc Raiders, and Anno 117: Pax Romana (The Verge). EA is separately working on native support for its Javelin Anticheat technology for its biggest multiplayer titles, which should ease cloud and cross-platform integration where anticheat systems have historically been a friction point. Anticheat software verifies that players are not running unauthorized programs that give them unfair advantages, and getting it to work smoothly across cloud and local platforms has been a persistent headache.
Game-Specific Updates
On the game-specific front, 007 First Light will receive a path tracing update launching in September. Path tracing is a more demanding form of ray tracing that simulates light bouncing off every surface in a scene, producing highly realistic lighting and reflections. CONTROL Resonant, which is launching later this year and can be wishlisted on Steam, is the subject of a GeForce RTX 50 Series bundle that includes a Steam copy of the game with purchase of qualifying GeForce products (Nvidia). DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH, which supports DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation and full DualSense controller integration with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, was previously detailed in March (Nvidia).
RTX Remix: Modernizing Classic Games
Nvidia shared details on upgrades to RTX Remix, its modding platform for injecting ray tracing into classic games. RTX Remix has been upgraded with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction (Nvidia). The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind RTX mod was revealed, and the Painkiller RTX mod received a major update. Both are community-facing projects that extend the lifecycle of older titles through modern rendering techniques.
Display Partnerships
On the display side, AGON by AOC unveiled what Nvidia described as the world's first 5K G-SYNC Pulsar gaming monitor. G-SYNC is Nvidia's variable refresh rate technology that synchronizes a monitor's refresh rate to the GPU's frame output, eliminating screen tearing. Nvidia also ran an #RTXPowersPlay promotion offering players the chance to win GPUs and other prizes (Nvidia).
The Bigger Picture
The collection of announcements spans the full stack: silicon (RTX Spark), software (DLSS 4.5 controls, RTX Remix), cloud delivery (GeForce Now hardware support, Firefox, Fire TV, GOG SSO), and content (path tracing updates, bundles, and mods). None of these individually constitutes a platform reset, but together they describe a company methodically removing friction points across the gaming pipeline. Steam Controller support on GeForce Now closes a gap between Valve's input ecosystem and Nvidia's cloud service that has existed since GeForce Now launched. RTX Spark's game-developer support list, signed before the chip ships, signals that Nvidia is securing software alignment ahead of hardware availability rather than after. That sequencing matters. In past GPU generations, the gap between silicon availability and meaningful software adoption sometimes stretched quarters. If RTX Spark ships this fall with four supported titles on day one, that would represent a tighter hardware-software cadence than the norm.
The staggered platform support for Steam Controller — Valve hardware first, Windows and macOS "later" — is worth thinking about. A Steam Deck or Steam Machine connects to GeForce Now over a network, and controller input must travel through both the local Steam input layer and the cloud streaming pipeline. Getting that path working first is the harder engineering problem, and solving it on the harder surface area first is a reasonable read of Nvidia's priorities.
The Gamescom announcements collectively push toward a gaming ecosystem where the device in your hand matters less than the rendering pipeline behind it. GeForce Now on a Fire TV Stick, a Steam Deck, or a Firefox tab all point to the same RTX datacenter hardware. DLSS 4.5 and RTX Spark extend the quality of what that hardware can produce. The modding platform and display partnerships round out the edges. It is a lot of moving parts in service of one idea: making the location of the GPU increasingly incidental to the experience of playing the game.
