Ron Livingston Joins Indie Dramedy 'Turn the Lights Back On' Opposite Alex Borstein and June Squibb

Ron Livingston has signed on to star alongside Alex Borstein and June Squibb in Turn the Lights Back On, an indie dramedy written and directed by Dave Pantano, Deadline reported on 25 August 2026.

The film is a darkly comedic look at family, loneliness and the messy ways people find each other again after years of emotional distance. Set against the lingering aftermath of the pandemic, it follows a fractured family forced to confront the relationships — and the versions of themselves — they may have taken for granted.

Livingston plays Donny, the younger brother of Borstein's character, Emma. Donny is charming but often aloof, less than attentive to his family responsibilities, and in the middle of a separation from his wife. He is also navigating the fallout with his two children and the declining health of his ageing mother.

For Livingston, the role adds to a career that spans comedy, drama and horror. He earned a Golden Globe nomination and built a steady following with credits including Office Space, Band of Brothers, The Conjuring, Adaptation, Boardwalk Empire, Loudermilk and A Million Little Things. His most recent screen appearance came in Killing Castro, a political drama that premiered at the Tribeca Festival.

Borstein, best known to audiences from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, doubles as both star and executive producer on the project, sharing EP duties with Marni Rosenzweig. The producing team is Dino Maglaris, Harrison Chiu and Addie Scott Irwin.

Production is set to begin later this year. No release date has been announced.
