The Game Says He May Have Pulled Drake's Verse From 'No Brakes' to 'Protect the Coast'

The Game has revealed that multiple versions of his song "No Brakes," which features Drake, exist — and that he may have removed the Toronto rapper's verse from the track before releasing his latest album, The Documentary III.

Speaking on Real 92.3 LA's The Cruz Show, the Compton rapper said there are roughly three versions of "No Brakes" and that he "pulled certain things off the album" during the editing process. When asked why, he suggested the decision may have been made "to protect the [West] Coast as a whole" Billboard.

The remark lands in the middle of a sensitive moment. Since The Documentation III dropped, The Game has been pushing back against fan allegations that he used the project to take shots at Kendrick Lamar and to side with Drake in the latter's highly publicised feud with the Compton lyricist. Hip-hop allegiances on the West Coast carry real weight, and listeners have been parsing every bar for coded signals about where artists stand.

The Game was direct about his intentions for the album. He said he thinks it was better to deliver a project "full of music with no beefs" and that he does not believe he is dissing anyone on the record. Removing a Drake feature — or at least keeping the option open — would be consistent with that goal: a verse from one side of rap's most scrutinised conflict could pull the whole album into a conversation the artist says he wanted no part of.

For fans, the upshot is that "No Brakes" as it appears on The Documentation III may not be the only version that exists. Whether the Drake verse surfaces elsewhere, or stays in the vault, is up to The Game — and he has not committed either way.
