An upcoming Disney+ documentary captured the moment Liam and Noel Gallagher ended 15 years without speaking to each other, the platform's EMEA content head Angela Jain revealed at the Edinburgh TV Festival on 26 August 2026.

The film, titled Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, was brought to Jain by Disney+ VP of unscripted originals Sean Doyle. Jain said the two were confident the documentary would connect with audiences, and that the trailer release had reinforced that belief. Variety

The Gallagher brothers' estrangement dates back to 2009, when Noel walked out of the band ahead of a Paris gig. Their reconciliation has been one of the most talked-about reunions in British music — and the documentary appears to have the footage to prove it happened on camera.

Jain also used the festival's Spotlight on Disney+ session to lay out a broader slate of new commissions and returning series for the streaming service. Disney+ greenlit Mad Love, a comedy-drama by American playwright Kate Cortesi about a young woman who takes a job with a wedding planner in Italy. Another new order, Dad, comes from writer Cam Garrity and is produced with A24 — the independent studio behind Everything Everywhere All at Once and Beef. In it, a group of grown siblings discover their father is a murderer.

The superhero comedy Extraordinary will return for another series. Lee Mason, Disney+'s VP of scripted, said the drama Rivals had performed strongly, with part two of its second season set to launch in the autumn.

Jain told the Edinburgh audience that greenlight authority for Disney+ local originals sits with her and the U.K. team, which also covers seven other markets across Europe. The push for local originals fits a stated goal from Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro to triple the number of local originals globally. Nearly 40% of Disney+ viewers are aged 16 to 34, Jain said — a demographic that documentary and scripted originals about music, family and identity are designed to hold. Variety

For Oasis fans, the documentary promises a front-row seat to a reunion many thought would never happen. For Disney+, it is a bet that one of British music's most famous family feuds can still draw a global streaming audience.
