Sharon Stone, Prince Harry and Stephen Fry Curate Ukraine Photography Exhibition in Los Angeles
Prince Harry, Sir Stephen Fry, Sharon Stone and Alyssa Milano have signed on as guest curators of a Ukrainian photography exhibition opening in Los Angeles on 11 September, ARTnews reported on 26 August.
The exhibition documents everyday life in Ukraine during Russia's full-scale invasion. Rather than commissioning celebrity portraits or red-carpet snaps, the project puts its famous names to work selecting and arranging images that capture how civilians have lived through more than two years of war. The concept of a guest curator — a figure invited to shape an exhibition's content rather than simply lend their name — has become a familiar device in museums and galleries, often used to draw new audiences to a subject they might not otherwise seek out.
Joining the Hollywood figures is Oleksandra Matviichuk, the Ukrainian human rights lawyer who shared the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize as head of the Centre for Civil Liberties in Kyiv. Her presence grounds the exhibition in direct advocacy: Matviichuk has spent years documenting war crimes and campaigning for accountability. Sir Stephen Fry, a longtime supporter of Ukrainian causes, has previously travelled to Kyiv and spoken about the country's resilience, according to The Independent (The Independent).
