Prime Video Greenlights 'The Crouches': Peter Crouch and Abby Clancy Get Their Own Docu-Series
Prime Video has ordered a new access documentary series following former England footballer Peter Crouch and his wife, model and television presenter Abby Clancy, across a year of their lives. Titled The Crouches, the series was unveiled at the Edinburgh TV Festival on 27 August 2026 and is the second docu-series Prime Video announced that day, according to Deadline.
The premise pairs domestic chaos with a global sporting event. Crouch — who stands 6'7" — and Clancy are preparing to move into a new home that needs renovation to accommodate his height. Before the dust settles, Crouch sets off for the World Cup, leaving Clancy at home with their children and what is effectively a building site. Deadline
The project reunites Crouch with Prime Video, which released That Peter Crouch Film in 2023 — a documentary described as the story behind football's "most unlikely hero," covering the period since Crouch signed his first professional contract nearly 25 years ago (Prime Video). That earlier film was available exclusively on Prime Video worldwide (Evening Standard). Rumours of a fly-on-the-wall series with the couple had been circulating since at least June 2026, when Yahoo UK reported that Crouch and Clancy were in negotiations with Amazon for a television show (Yahoo UK).
Workerbee, part of Banijay UK, is producing The Crouches. The executive producers are Rick Murray, Ben Hirsch, Ben Mitchell and Demi Doyle. Charlotte Taylor serves as series producer, with Simon Draper as series director. Deadline
An "access documentary" — a format where cameras follow subjects over an extended period with their cooperation — has become a reliable draw for streaming platforms, which can market a recognisable name to subscribers while keeping production costs below those of scripted drama. For the crew involved, a greenlight like this one means a writers'-room-free but logistically demanding shoot: filming a family through a house renovation and a World Cup departure, on a schedule shaped by both.
Prime Video has not yet announced a release date or episode count for The Crouches.
