Sunny Hostin Licenses Her Likess to AI Studio Fountain 0 for Film Adaptations of Her Novels
Sunny Hostin, co-host of ABC's The View, has licensed her name and likeness to AI startup Fountain 0 for use in AI-generated films and television shows based on her bestselling books (Variety).
The agreement, announced on 27 August 2026, allows Fountain 0 to develop and produce one or more AI-generated films adapting Hostin's novels — productions that may include her own image on screen. Hostin will retain control over how her likeness is used in those productions, according to Variety. She becomes the first major media personality to work with Fountain 0 in this capacity (AOL).
Fountain 0 is an AI company focused on generating full-length motion pictures and television programmes. It describes itself as a platform blending traditional creative principles with frontier AI technologies (Fountain 0). The studio has already produced two AI-generated films: Dreams of Violets, which premiered at a major film festival and was one of the most prominent full-length AI projects to do so, and Odysseus: The Fall, an adaptation of Homer's Odyssey that featured the likeness of Fountain 0's CEO, Ash Koosha, as the Greek hero (Variety).
Koosha directed Dreams of Violets himself. The fact that his own face appeared in Odysseus: The Fall gives a sense of how Fountain 0 operates: performers license their image, and the company builds the performance with AI.
Hostin had previously tried to bring her books to the screen through her production company, Roots & Wings Productions. That included her 2022 series Summer on the Bluffs (Variety). The Fountain 0 deal gives those adaptation efforts a different production pipeline — one where the camera, the sets and even the actors can be generated rather than built.
Fountain 0 is not alone in licensing real people's likenesses for AI productions. AI creative startup Higgsfield has licensed the likenesses of streamer N3on and UFC fighters Israel Adesanya and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson for its film Cully Hill Boys (Variety).
For viewers, the deal raises a straightforward question: when a familiar face appears in a film, was the person on set, or was their image licensed to a machine? Hostin's agreement keeps the answer in her hands — she controls how her image is used. How audiences respond to AI-generated films built around real people's likenesses is a question the box office and the streaming dashboards will answer as these projects reach screens.
