Hull FC Confirm End-of-Season Departures: Fash, Sao, Arthur and Salabio to Leave
Hull FC have confirmed that Brad Fash, Ligi Sao, Jake Arthur and Hugo Salabio will all leave the club at the end of the 2026 season, with veteran winger Tom Briscoe also retiring from the game (Hull FC).
The announcement, published on the club's official website on 28 August 2026, brings the curtain down on several Hull careers of varying length — from a one-season cameo to a decade-long stay through the youth ranks.
Brad Fash is perhaps the most notable departure. A 30-year-old prop (a forward who specializes in carrying the ball into contact and providing the physical backbone of the side), Fash came through Hull FC's youth system and made his senior debut in 2015. He departs in his testimonial year — a season traditionally granted to long-serving players as a reward for their commitment — having amassed 203 appearances for his hometown club (BBC Sport). Injuries have limited his involvement this season; Hull FC's own squad updates listed him out with a knee injury in June and an MCL (medial collateral ligament) problem in July.
Ligi Sao, a 32-year-old prop, leaves after seven seasons in the black and white. Like Fash, he had been sidelined through the back end of the campaign with a shoulder problem, last appearing in Hull's unavailable lists in mid-July.
Jake Arthur, 22, departs after just one season at the club. The half-back — the position responsible for directing attacking play and kicking strategy — joined Hull FC ahead of the 2026 Betfred Super League season and made 22 appearances. He is the son of Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur.
Hugo Salabio, a 26-year-old prop brought in ahead of the 2025 campaign, exits after two seasons. The French forward's time at the club was disrupted by injury and limited opportunities.
There is also a confirmed departure for forward Jed Cartwright, 29, who has been on loan at St Helens. Hull FC confirmed he will not return when that loan expires at the end of the year. Cartwright is the son of John Cartwright, the former Hull FC head coach.
Tom Briscoe's retirement, confirmed separately, closes a long career in the professional game. The 36-year-old winger has been a familiar figure in Super League for well over a decade.
For fans, the departures of Fash and Sao in particular will carry real weight. Between them, the two props represent over a decade of service and a physical presence that has defined Hull FC's forward pack through multiple seasons. Replacing that experience — and managing the transition for a squad that has also coped with a lengthy injury list this year — will be among the key tasks facing head coach John Cartwright's successor in the off-season rebuild.
